Why You Should Consider a Fitness Coach

Why You Should Consider a Fitness Coach

Hiring a coach can feel daunting. After all, there are so many options out there, and it can be difficult to connect with everyone. Plus, maybe you feel like you have a solid grip on the whole fitness thing, making it unnecessary to work with a coach.

If you feel that way, read on because we are breaking down four solid reasons why you should consider a coach and why making an effort to find the right one will pay dividends.

1. Receive Expert Guidance

The most obvious benefit of working with a coach is getting professional guidance based on your needs. You may know a thing or two about working out and eating well, but the right coach can teach you a lot and show you better ways to do things.

Good coaches can improve your gym training, teach you interesting techniques, help you eat better (and not obsess over every calorie), and show you how to recover more effectively.

2. Take Guesswork Out of the Equation

Putting together an actionable fitness plan can be challenging. Many trainees doubt themselves because they can’t tell if their approach is ideal.

“Should I do this exercise or the other one?”

“Is my training volume enough for growth?”

“Why can’t I improve my bench press?”

“Should I eat more protein?”

These and many other questions can arise, casting doubt and sapping your motivation.

The great thing about working with a coach is they take the guesswork out of the equation and put your mind at ease. As a result, workouts become far more pleasurable, and you never feel like you’re wasting your time.

3. Be More Accountable

Does your fitness journey look like this:

Train, train, train Long periods of inactivity Train, train, train…

If so, you may have an accountability problem. The issue is that we often rely on motivation, which comes and goes in waves. We want to work out for a period, then decide it’s not worth it, then get motivated again, and so on.

The result is lots of moving forward and back, never making real progress toward your goals.

Working with a coach eliminates that issue because of accountability. Knowing that someone expects you to show up and put in the work is a huge motivator to do so, even when you don’t feel like it.

Sure, that early-morning workout might sound as alluring as a dentist appointment, but you show up, do the work, and learn to be consistent, regardless of how you feel.

4. Save Precious Time

Finding time to plan your training and nutrition can be difficult between work, school, maintaining a social life, running errands, and dealing with many of life’s emergencies.

Before you know it, you’ve been running the same split for four months, your progress has stagnated, and you haven’t had a chance to review your nutrition.

A good coach sorts everything for you, leaving you more free time for other important things and helping you get the most out of your time in the gym.

That way, instead of being in that early-to-late ‘intermediate’ stage many trainees find themselves in, you move closer to your ultimate physique and strength goals.
